I think I'm in the right place for this... I have a friend of mine (completely computer illiterate) who's having a bit of nostalgia going on and asked me for a favor. When he was younger, he had an older brother who drag raced in the Colorado area. His brother's car was featured for a 3 page (?) centerfold/fold out. If he recalls correctly, it was in either Hot Rod or Car Craft in the summer of 68. He used to have the pic on his wall 40 years ago, but, well, time moves on and things get lost...like the magazine and picture. The driver was Ron Lueck. The dragster (rail, or what, I forgot to ask) was painted green and he seems to remember that "Lueck & ______" was written on the side (don't have the partners name). I've looked on evilbay and can see the covers, and some of them have inside page shots of the magazine, but I'm not finding what I want. If someone here can look through some of their copies they have hanging around and let me know which issue it's in, I'd really appreciate it. He'd really like to get another copy, but first I have to find out which issue and which publication it's in. From there, I'd like to get the guy a copy. Hopefully, his memory is correct on the timeline and publications. If not, I apologize in advance. But you know you wanted an excuse to mess around with those stacks of old mags anyhow, didn't ya'? Can anyone here give me a hand? Thanks in advance.
UtahVette: Thanks so much for the effort. I really do appreciate it. I'll try to have him research further from other family members and see if it wasn't another publication. I hope it wasn't too much trouble. Thanks to your help with the process of elimination, maybe I can get the 'ol boy in front of a computer with me and surf evilbay and see if he can pick out the magazine cover. He lives out in the boonies and doesn't come to town often. Thanks again, Chris
Can't help with the magazine , but any chance this could be the car ? Lueck and Coggins Seems like it could say Englewood Colo. on the door http://www.dragpixbypete.info/Roadsters/lueckcoggins.html
beantoad: Holy Smokes! That's about what he described to me. That's gotta be it, all right. I wonder what magazine it was in... My friend seems to remember that it was a real good looking green. Hey, at least that picture is something to start with. Thanx a bunch.
