I'm new to this forum so forgive the ignorance. I'm looking for other 49-51 Mercury owners in the Louisville area. I'd love to see and talk about as many Mercs as I can before I get started on my build. I just purchased a coupe 2 weeks ago and finding brains to pick about these is not as easy as I'd thought. Maybe a Merc club exist that I don't know about. Any advice would be great. I am going to try and keep it as "traditional" as I can. Part suppliers, parts I should use, things to watch out for, or any other bit of advice will be much appreciated. Thanks ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1389140443.107144.jpg

Thanks man. Yea, I hardly ever see Mercs at our small local shows. When I do, they are almost never chopped. I PM'ed a guy on here that's supposed to be pretty well known and have quite a bit of experience but he never wrote back. I just checked yours out and you've done a great job. Is there a thread of the parts you used? Like bumpers, rear glass, grill, motor, etc. and detailed pics?

There's a wealth of info right here on the Hamb. There are 49-51 Mercury picture threads you can find using the search function. Feel free to check out the build for my '51. Check out the Mercury parts thread that John created, there's a link in my signature.

Haha Thanks, I actually just realized how to do some of those things. I found Johns build thread. You'd think being 30 yrs old I'd be a lil more tech savvy on this app. It's def the most complicated app I have. Using my computer might be better.

Thanks guys I finally learned how to navigate this thing a little better. I guess I should make a build thread and hope the pros subscribe for my endless amount of questions. Lol

  10. Maybe we should add build threads to the List what do you think Doc Detroit and the guys?

I say YES to adding build threads to the '49-'51 Mercury Parts List....

    OR

Create another thread that could be an "Index to 49-51 Mercury builds", and we include a link to it on the Parts List. I might like this idea better, but either one is good.

Man, that's a great idea. Finding certain things isn't as easy as I thought it'd be. I mostly use the app on my phone but I searched for days on gauge threads before I came across a halfway useful one. John, did you get a stock dash and gauges yet? I noticed in that thread you hadn't decided. I got a pretty decent dash if you're interested.
