Obviously I am new here. Was always a muscle car guy. Guess as I'm getting older things change. I recently purchased a 52' Chevy Styleline Sport Coupe according to the body tag (52-1027). I have had it for a week, and the thing is growing on me. My intent is to make a g***er out of it. Was thinking of buying a sraight axle front end from somewhere like Jim Meyer racing and grafting it in. I love the straight axle look. Where I work is located right next to, what I consider a high end hotrod shop. These guys do great work. I was talking to them about finding some doors and my g***er idea and they asked me why don't I do a poor man's g***er front end. What is a poor man's front end I ask? They said they have seen the stock front end blocked up to obtain the g***er front end. I'm like hell yea, I'll try that......and spend the $1,700.00 on other stuff for the car. I've done some searches and found one dude that did it using 4" tall "I" beam. My question is how high should I raise the front end. I was going to start by using 4" square tube and see how it looks. Please.....I am looking to you for all the feedback you are willing to give.

Here's how it is sitting with some 3 1/2" wooden blocks.

Man tough league here. Nobody has lower their stock front suspension. At least post up and give my some **** about how I'm going about it the wrong way or tell me to hit the Newbie threads. Lol.

Can't be a lot of help but Speedway offers a pretty nice axle kit. HRP

Looks fine to me, maybe bring the nose down a wee bit. Nothing wrong with dropping the stock suspension down to raise the car but the straight axle will get you in the "club".

  6. Looks about right. I'd get the tires and wheels your going to run before finalizing anything.

Saw the I beams done on a 53 a couple years ago, looked good to me and probably easier to drive than with the straight axle tho they do look cool.
