I am looking for a place to get a weld up header kit. I've got a header flange for a Chevy two marine head a guy water jetted but I need to fab the rest of it. I used to get a kit from biltwell when I was fooling with bikes but I know its not large enough o.d

I should make myself a little more clear on this. Coffee hasn't kicked in yet.I need a universal kit with bends and stuff in it as one for a small block Chevy won't fit and then I'm stuck with a extra header for the right side. I looked on e bay but all they have are way too much for what I need

Add Headers by "Ed" to the above list for probably the greatest comprehensive inventory and knowledge base of headers and related parts in the industry. :)

You can buy J bends and U bends from a lot of different places. They go along way, to building a set. Speedway, Jegs, Summit just to name a few. Advance Auto can get them also.

These folks have everything you need at a good price. http://www.customcraftheaders.com/www/html/accessories.html

^This ^. Ed may have thicker tubes available that others may not. If you call him, be prepared to stay on the phone while.

Saw the guys from hellsgate at the Monroe swap meet. They should be able to supply anything you need.

For what you're doing, you probably don't want a kit....you might want to mock up where the tubes go, and then order the bends you need to build the header. There are lots of places to get bends...the important things are wall thickness, tube size, and bend radius, and perhaps bend quality.

Let us know how it goes, it would be great to see a how-to article

Timely for me as I am looking for parts for a 4 cyl. header as well. Summit probably has what you need and they ship free. My delima is gauge thickness for the tubes. Alot of what you see is 16 G. but I'm thinking 18 G. would be better. Any thoughts?

Probably depends on your welding skill, 18 ga is easier to blow a hole thru

there are several companies out there selling mandrel bends and ***ociated stuff that will allow you to build whatever you want. It seems to be a little cheaper to buy from the benders, rather than the header companies. I think the company I bought my stuff from was Mandrel Tube Bending (or something like that)

It's all about the weight! I'll have to look again but I think Ed's sells mostly 18 G. for that reason.

  18. Yeah !!
16 gauge where you need the strength to support the weight and 18 gauge where you want it to be lighter.

Brackets back to the bell housing bolts help with support and prevent cracking. There's a lot of weight oscillating with plenty of leverage on the ends of lakes style headers
