Wheel color & Wide whites

Hands down,,this has the look.



And although you didn't ask a set of Deuce bumpers would look great on that car. HRP

 

White Walls with either color wheels!

 

Black wheels with the WWW's =

 

You didn't ask about an obvious (to me anyway!) third option. That car would look great with the wheels chromed and wide whites. Sweet ride.

 

You could put black on one side and red on the other with the wide whites-when you get tired of one look or want to change it up a bit-turn the whitewalls to the inside.

Interesting how the majority of the vocal responses are all about the black rims and black walls but the poll says otherwise. HRP

Your car really lends itself to different combos. Red interior & black top makes it all work. Black on black is my least favorite. How about white wheels & blackwalls? WW& red wheels looks best to me..really pops! New WW & a couple of rattle cans, change the color in 6 months. Buy some 5 spokes next year and wires the year after & you'll have a new car every year.

 

I don't want to bring in a 4th color with the white, but you're reading my mind on changing it up every couple of years.

 

That's what I'm thinking. I like the WWW and black wheels but I just think the red wheels tie it all together (with the red grille and interior)

I am taking Deuce bumper donations in case anyone asks...

Out of the choices you've posted my vote would be for the black with wide whites.
That being said, nothing beats chrome steelies with white walls on any hot rod. (IMO)

 

Hard to argue with that, new wheels just aren't in the budget.

 

I'm usually a black wheel kind of guy. However, on your car, because of the red int and grille together with the neutral body color, I think that the ww's and red wheels really make the whole thing pop. No contest.

 

Looks like the red wheels and WWW have led with about 63% since the first day. Pretty sure that's what I'm thinking also. Thanks to everyone who voted, and all the good constructive ideas. I'm not sure when I'm going to do this but it will be before spring. I'll post some pictures when I'm done. Any more ideas, please post em up.

 

WWW with red wheels but get rid of the yellow mooneye decal. Change it for the red Claysmith woodpecker.

 

If I had to pick from your choices I would say white walls and black wheels.

I'd probably paint the wheels body color and go with blackwall tires.

That's already gone. The picture is a couple of years old. I do like the Claysmith Woodpecker idea,

 

Of the choices I like the Black on Black. If it were mine I would probably lean towards wide Whites and Chrome rims with the Ford cap. I think we are back to that Chocolate and Vanilla thingy are we not?

 

Rocky just hit one of my ideas! Wide Whites are for customs, that would be a big "NO" to me. Were it mine I would consider either Rocky's suggestion or red wheels with black walls.

 

^^^^^^^^ I think you see them more on customs but there are a lot of 20s & 30s hot rods with that combo. It seems to be one of those things we did in the 50s & 60s and then it kind of fell off, but I think it's coming back big. I know what you're saying and I'd at least agree that you see WWWs on more customs than hot rods.

 

That's what I love about Hot Rods,,,there are no rules!

It is up to the individual to build his car the way he sees fit,personally I like whitewall on hot rods & customs,,,but I also like black walls too! HRP

 

I prefer the black walls w/ black rims. ( pic. 1) I'm not a whitewall guy and both my rods have red wheels.

 

I think whitewalls on hot rods fit in a mid to late fifties way. But if it were my car and I wanted whitewalls I would paint the wheels red and put some full caps in it like lancers or fiestas or something. Of course you could keep the ford caps and trim rings and change the whole look of the car to fit your mood...
