I have a 63 Pontiac Star Chief 2 Door Hard Top It was given to my Brother and I. He is not to interested in messing with it. But I would like to now what these cars came with from factory. Right now it has a big block 400 , 3 speed manual on the floor, and a 4:11 rearend.

No Star Chief 2 dr hardtops in 63....4 drs only. "Normally Star Chief would probably have a 389 / 2 barrel / w Jetaway 4 speed hydro.....normally. Almost anything was possible back then. Could have been had w 4 barrel or tripower and stick trans....3 or even 4 speed.

Hello from another Wisconsinite. The 400/3 spd. (Ford toploader) setup was standard equipment for '67 on up. It's kind of a unusual with that wide ratio gear box with the 4:11.

ok i found the vin number and it is a 63 Catalina. Sry about that. I guess someone over the yrs put a star chief emblem on for some reason. Is there a way to find out what engine and other stuff about the car with the vin number ?

With the VIN you could find the original build configuration by going thru PHS ...Pontiac Historical Services...but it costs around $65 I believe. If you are that interested.

yes Mister Dave a person does. They made nice looking cars back in the day. I would like to see them get back in business and make some Firebirds. To see how they would stack up against the new Cameros and Mustangs.

Someone probly messed the front end up at one point and took parts off a starchief to fix it since the front end is virtually the same on 63 starchiefs Catalina's and bonnevilles.
