Ill try this again.. This car is one that I have been thinking about for a while. To find the right car is a struggle, its hard to find good core start but I did. I found my 1930 5w coupe finally and it was a Side of the barn discovery ha. This car is an Original cruiser of northern Utah and what I mean is they did not modify it they just cruised it as is. I bought the car from the grandson he got it and didn't have a clue what it was or why it was special but some how he did know a price lol. I got the car home and found the original 1960 license plates in the trunk they were rough but such a neat find.. The direction I am going with this car is traditional but like circa 1964 with a few modern things like disk breaks and chevelle rear end. I will be using basic hand tools to do the car and also trying to keep with the technology they had in that time to build a really sweet California fender less cruiser. Here is my build

The car ran and drove when I got it. I caught a lot of flack for wanting to modify such a straight car, and honestly I wasn't real sure about it so I CUT THE ROOF off and committed myself lol. I had too this car deserves it. The top is cool because its a piece of tin off of a silo from Wisconsin somewhere and it was screwed in with 180 flat head screws to keep the water out so that lets me know it was done early on. I only took 3 inches out because I am not going to lower it over the frame. It will be a highboy coupe I live in Wyoming so its still wild, wild west when it comes to nice smooth roads so for it to sit up a bit will be beneficial.

I sold everything that came off the car the Engine I sold to a guy in SLC Utah who used it to build a lakes style racer. He said he and his family supe up the 4 bangers and build some pretty impressive power, there name escapes me but they are members of the Utah model a club.

the boxing plates stiffened up the frame really good. Then I had a guy trade me a 4 inch drop axle for the original front end and I already had 36 spindles so I bought a kit from speedway that that came with the proper bearings and races to put the late sixties style, single piston caliper disk breaks on my 36 spindles.

thanks guys I am stoked this car is super solid and I love it. I used a 1977 chevy truck hood to fill my top on this car, it has a perfect lip right down the middle to help the rain roll off and it had the perfect crown to fit the top ill try to post pictures as soon as I get a chance

fit and test fit putting things on and taking them off. I put on the 32 radiator shell and welded some half *** headlight mounts just to get an idea of placement. I found some real nice headlight mounts on ebay that are cut like my frame plates and there also a shock mount, im finding that ebay has some great stuff I also bought patch panels and new inner quarters off there.

Everything I am doing right now is mock up so that I can tear it all back down again an finish welding and paint everything after. I set the body on and with the grill shell and headlights I am stoked to see the car starting to shape up.

I am mounting the sbc with a kit I got from ebay and a trans mount I got from speedway motors. i had to cut the trans mount to fit but it worked out nice and looks real good. i also had to cut the fire wall and recess it 3 inches to make clearance mostly for the distributer even thoe i am going to use a Mallory points style distributer, i want room for a regular HEI just in case. I am only using the original radiator for mock up. ANY ideas on good company's for radiators? any help would be appreciated thanks again guys

I started on then floor boards one thing I decided early on is that I did not want to have a square trans tunnel. so I started simple and am using a strap material underneath for support but because of all of the angles and because of its size, this floor will be sturdy as hell. I also built a hinge door to access my breaks in the floor so that I don't need to pull the body off to mess with breaks. Ill be filling the fire wall also I want to have the wires hidden and only the necessary's showing. I also wanted a 32 hood but couldn't afford one so I built one out of 21 gage metal first by measuring and cutting then by hand bending (over my knee) then I layed strap material inside to hold the shape. Worked out nice and the hood slips on and off with ease

just about done with the fab work and mock up. I installed my bias ply white walls on Chevy steel wheels ill be using caps and rings on them. I am going to tear the whole thing down now and start to do it all right this time like final welding, replacing ****ty bolts with stainless ones ect but also to paint the frame before I put the painted body back on. I have a **** load of body work to do, I want to make sure to have all the rust gone and try to get the body straight as possible which wont be hard considering I started with a damn nice set up. Now to find a 3 2bbl intake and get rid of some of these parts. The RADIATOR in the last pic is for sale best offer takes it, its original and didn't leak......

  30. Really nice !

Traditionally, most guys didnt start to build a hotrod with a pile of parts, buckets of rust, and sheets of steel. They did it just like you did. If I got the dates right , that's about 8 months , fantastic :)

The color is awesome! Great choice and I had no idea that's a 1932 color.
Very similar to my first car, 68 bonneville with white tot and interior.
