I am a hoarder. I have a hard time getting rid of useful parts, however, most are not useful to me. Do any of you guys ever go off the grid in your builds any more, are are generic, non wear items truly junk. We are talking early 50's pedals, parking brake levers, cable, switches, from non GM or ford stuff, , 59 ford sedan doors, even a 59 Ford 3 speed, and a couple old core automatics. Is this stuff worth the h***le of trying to sell, or is it just so much junk. I have a **** load of this kind of stuff, and most of it I've had for more than 15 years. I know what I have, and know what is worth selling, its just the rest that is getting to me, cause once its gone, its gone forever. Any opinions? to put it into persective, I have shop manuals for o/t stuff like a chevy citation, and a Ford Tempo still.
Put an ad in the cl***ifieds. If a hamber can't use it, its probably not worth saving cause we use all kinds of oddball stuff. Just not Citations and Tempos........
Tempos got a four banger based off of the old Falcon six. Good source for forged rods, better pistons, better timing chain(maybe?) and some other bits for the old Ford small six.
I feel your pain! A couple years ago I took two trailer loads to s****! I had stuff stored in a 53' rental trailer my Mother Inlaw's garage my side yard and loft. I finally got tired of looking at it digging through it and stumbling over it! So I put out the word come and get what you need or want the rest is going to the yard! What my buddy's didn't take I s****ed $1000.00 later I'm a much happier and closer to being organized! GOOD LUCK!
cleaned up my yard starting a few years ago, made enough money at the s**** yard to paint my car, etc. Tens of thousands of pounds of it.....
I've got a 40'X80' 2 story shop filled with a 40+ year collection of STUFF. I'm obviously not going to use all of it but a big share has value above s****. I'm thinking of going through it, isolating what I will reasonably use and put the rest on Ebay. The money has got to take up less room and "maybe" I'll finally be motivated to do the 2 or three projects that I've always wanted to do. It sounds good sitting here typing it out................hope next spring still finds me thinking the same way. Frank
Putting stuff on ebay is a pain...I sold a lot of stuff that way over the past couple years, but packing and shipping is a h***le. It's great for rare parts that are worth some money, but not for stuff that has just a little bit more than s**** value. Sadly, the s**** guy doesn't haggle, and he wants everything on your trailer....which makes it at good place to sell, much better than swap meets, etc. Although the pay is relatively low.
