well, i covered this on an older post this year, but being tech month i figured id put it together on one post. its a very low buck home built fan shroud thats made of Stainless Steel. 2 steam table pans is what i got to work with. my bud happen to have 2, not exactly the same but used wisely nobody will know.

first pic is the steam table pan, this one is deeper while the other was not so much:

so i cut out about 1.75" of depth and one long side to flatten off the other side:

here is what is left of the pan after cutting the section for the shroud, this i am using to extend the shroud surface in all directions, simply sectioning it but backwards:

now you can see a mock up on the rad and how the above missing piece is used to extend the surface area:

taped up the whole thing with some cardboard so i could pull it out from the rad and locate the fan. i used a push pin and string to make the circle, which i later used striping tape to mark. all the parts are laid out with the fan positioned in the center (i am using an electric fan because of spacing):

the 4 extension pieces i am planning on riveting with equal spacing along both sides of each, all pieces still need to be ground smooth on the edges. the whole thing will mount via 2 L brackets that will run the full height of the shroud about 21" tall. they will each have 6 holes 3 to the rad support and 3 to the shroud (all with nice round head hardware). Plan is to polish the shroud and paint the mounting L brackets black.

top view without fan (i really like the way this is looking) gotta go back and fix that fuel line:

here is the mock up pic (crappy pic i know):

got the metal i will use for the sides and made / mocked up the barrel:

the top side is the nicer part the bottom has some dings from the original pans, i think it looks great, i bent the two side L mounts and riveted them on so you don't see the connection:

here you can see the small rubber vacuum hose that i slit, it really helped finish the edges:

the back side so you can see the rubber hose and how little it will obstruct if any the airflow:

so there you have it, spent about $20 bucks on SS rivets. hope this helps somebody out.

  2. Good one.

Well thought out and the rivets add to the good looks.

Great idea, looks WAY better than a black plastic shroud.

Damn man, you continue to amaze and inspire me. Your work reminds me of my uncle who could jerry rig just about anything, except his shit never looked this good.

    Good work.
