    Hi Y'all,
    I recently bought a bone stock 1960 Biscayne with a 235 six.
I am happy with the stove bolt six, but consider to replace the original exhaust by a set of fenton style headers and run two pipes.

The question is, which pipe size, which type & size of mufflers, where to locate the mufflers (how far away from headers).. etc.
i.e. your best receipe for improved exhaust system is invited and appreciated.

As said, its '60 Biscayne stock cruiser, thus I am looking for nice low rap rap sound and hopefully a bit better flow...

    2" pipes.
Locate the mufflers wherever they will fit.
An oval shaped "turbo" style muffler will give a little deeper mellower sound than gl***packs.
Adding a crossover pipe will take the "buzz" out of it, especially if you were to use gl***packs.
Adding a larger diameter tip to the end of the exhaust can help deepen the exhaust note as well.

I prefer 1 3/4 dual straight pipes out the back no mufflers on a warmed up 6.

My '53 has 2 inch pipe front to rear with 36 inch long Walker gl***packs; I think that it sounds good, but everyone's got their own idea of "good". A stock '60 exhaust system has very logn tailpipes, which will enhance the "rap" level.

I'd run straight pipes and forget the mufflers!

    Thanks for the advice Gentlemen!
"Deep and mellow sound" as Snarl suggested may be the thing I am after for.
Thus oval mufflers and 2" pipes.

My brother runs Fentons and 2 1/4" Magnaflow gl***packs on his '54 Chevy and it really makes some noise!
