Im doing a lift off/carson top, and was wondering if anybody uses an aluminum skin to cover it. I did a search on here and i see that 1/2" chicken wireis used. it looks good, and probably easyer to finish,,, but i was wondering if aluminum sheet is just as good to use? and if what thickness? I got pic's of what im do"en if ya wana see. thanks guys

  2. I suppose the aluminum skin idea would all depend upon your ability to form the sheets the shape you want. The chicken wire or hardware cloth set up is easy to get the shape you wnat but won't offer the overall strength (especially when some Ya-Hoo puts a case of beer on the roof of your car) that the alumuminum would.

You could also do a fibergl*** skin over a doped cloth to get the shape you want. Post some pics so we can see what you're up against.
