Everyone make sure to READ THAT .... Like any other Broker, U-Ship will take no direct action to ensure that a load brokered thru them will actually even show up ..... Why The Hell pay a Broker ? Jim
I know this is after the fact but maybe we should start thinking about small GPS locator devices to put in our projects before shipping. I recently read an article where some townships are tagging there nativity scene statues with GPS trackers incase they are stolen. They now have small battery powered trackers for around $50.00. http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/product/spark+nano+gps+tracking+device.do
I helped a friend get a non-running p/u F1 shipped from AZ to down here. Some brokers advertised as carriers. We finally found a carrier and lo and behold his price was half of what a broker wanted. We kept in constant contact and he delivered it with in a 1/2 hour of his promised time. 1. USE a carrier only 2. insure your vehicle (carriers have to have insurance, but it is THEIR insurance) 3. ^ tracking device 4. most brokers don't even know who will be doing the shipping.
..A few things you may try/look into...does the shipper show a D.O.T. number, if he does call the D.O.T. ,...does he show his insurance company name?,..contact them,...u-ship should have his bank account numbers and he can be tracked that way, u-ship knows who he is and where he is from,...on the u-ship site does he show his truck may be you can get his plate number?!...how about his feed back from others users,...can you look at that and get some info from there?...hope this may help...Miller
Just an update. Great meeting you and your wife Flip. I recovered the cab and he picked it up sat morning. Thanks to a few of my friends in the area of the the shipper we were able to track him down and he turned it over to me Friday. Mark this one up as lucky. www.symcoshakedown.com Aug 8-9, 2014
I dealt with U-Ship last February selling a Camaro SS that went from upstate NY to a rural area in northern Mass ( a 350 mile trip). It took them 2 weeks to pick my car up and 3 days to deliver it after the carrier promised 3 day turn time. The buyer was on edge and calling me several times a day. When the carrier finally came to pick my car up I took a video of the car before it was picked up (showing the condition of the interior and exterior as well as the odometer). Another video of it being loaded in the trailer by the carrier and a last one of the truck showing the license plates and towing company name, DOT info and phone number on it for the buyer (I emailed all of them as soon as the truck left my property). Be careful you get what you pay for.
Well, (I know that it is a tunnel turned sideways), but where was the shipper. inquiring minds want to know.
I need help, I need help... but I won't respond after I get it... Many people offered their support and tips on how to handle this terrible situation. The least you can do is tell everyone what happened.
See the new thread "Shipping Nightmare Success" for a more complete story. Sorry for the slight delay. Thanks to all for you support and concerns, it means a lot.

You never know what you'll get with a shipper. A few years ago my neighbor shipped out his like '90 Caddy sedan and I only noticed because the shipper shows up with a tractor trailer cab and a 3-car 5th wheel trailer. The last time a truck like that went through our neighborhood (to do a U-turn I presume) it snagged a phone wire and pulled it down, so I went out to check the guy out. Texas trailer plate is on upside down and backwards, no plate visible on the rear of the truck, all there was for me to write down was the DOT number. He loaded the car and tied it down right (and unloaded and reloaded two other cars so he could put it in the front position), and didn't knock any wires down on the way out, but I'm fairly certain the rig, the trailer, or maybe both weren't legally registered anywhere. I use a guy out of Middletown, NY area who hauls part time, if you knew his story you might be leery but he gets the job done and his prices are reasonable.
