I just picked up a 61' Ford Galaxie with a 292 wide block and three on the tree. I wanted to switch it out with an automatic tranmission. what will be a good tranmission without having to cut the floor to make the tunnel bigger. I was thinking of an AOD from a mustang but I didn't know if that would work. Let me know guys, thanks....

If you're gonna keep the Y block, then you'll need a trans that will bolt up to it, which limits you pretty much to the old Cruisomatic.

Unless you want to pay $$$ for an adapter.
