Not sure what car to build, they both have their goods and bads. The 56 is here in AZ, the shoe box is in tx. But the shoe box was a old moonshiner car, its seen some guard-rails and such but its got a nice patina black and rust which makes it that much cooler but it has'nt ran in over 20yrs with its flatty, As for the 56 its here in AZ and close, it runs just needs brakes and lots of suspension work, its all OG even down to the checkered rubber mat in the trunk, even the paint is og. its a 4 door 210 W/265 straight bomber I want to build a air ride car that lays bellys down and both cars are good candidates. Just wondering if anyone can offer GOODS AND BADS OF EITHOR!!! Thanks, 56Sled I can show pics of the 56 but don't have pics of the 50shoebox yet, will get them at christmas
I'm probably supposed to knw this but what in the world is OG. Now which one do you want or can you afford or both. I'm not a big inliner fan but the 'Chebby sounds more solid, on the other hand its a more door. Now the old whiskey runner sounds cool, but do you really want to be running around in a beat up old Ford? Let me rephrase that 3 years down the road when the new wears off do you want to go through all the truoble to straighten out the gaurdrail stripes, and if you do then hasn't it lost its appeal as an old mule? My guess is you've probably already got the car in mind that you really want, so its just a matter of decideing what is the most within reach.
PnB...hahaha almost spit my mornin coffee on the screen O G ; means original...as you are THEE ....OGPnB....haha or in the rap music world, it stands for Original Gangster... Geez man...i'm dam near 50...don't make me make you look old LMAO. oh yeah....forgot....buy em both!!!
I would go withthe more door 56. Everybody has f'n shoeboxes. you go to a show and half the friggin cars are shoes. Now a laid out 56 shaved, nosed and decked....you don't see too many of those at shows. so waht if its a 4 door. shave the handles and most won't care. I am a ford guy and I hate shoebox fords...leave it be...alot of guys claim that they are shine runners but that is just their excuse why the thing sags.
Unless you have some really, really convincing proof, I bet the "moonshine runner" story is bullshit. Every '58 Plymouth was in Christine, every DeLorean was in Back to the Future, JFK was shot in every '61 Lincoln. And a 265 is a small V8, not an inline. And as far as four doors go, I once read this tech article about how this guy made his four door sedan into a two door....
This raises a very good point, What are some of the characteristcs of a shine runner? I figure the dummy floor in the trunk or dummy floor under the back seat, shackles to lift the back up for a load. A truck flathead that with a 3 speed? Does this sound like a shiner car? This car is interesting and even if it was'nt a shiner car, it still has the looks of a car that has been down that road. I will try to get some pics from tx and let you be the judge. Thanks, 56Sled
heavier springs in the back, tail/brake light cutoff switches... ther are a lot of ways to spot an old shine runner, BUT there have been so damn many articles and shows about them they'd be easy to counterfit
