Hi all , recently I bought a 1956 f250 and I was just wondering what are the main differences between the f100 and the f250 , and will it affect the value when complete cause it is a f250 not a f100, I know one difference is the wheel well opening , does anyone have the specs of what the f100 opening should be and what the f250 wheel opening should be . Any help or comments is appreciated and I'll upload photos soon ! :)
    Thanks all

Are the f250 worth less when done up in comparison to the f100 or will it be roughly the same ?
If there are any other differences please let me know before I get too far into the project :) thanks everyone

  4. ALL the running gear of a 250 is different/heavier than a 100, 8 lug wheels, springs, axles, etc.

What about value ? Would it be worth a pretty penny when done ?

  7. The value just isn't there in a F-250 unless you sink more money in it than it's worth. HRP

I am helping a buddy with an f250 had a longer wheelbase and bed, we already planned on back-halfing it so we just shortened the frame wile we made our notch. The bed is easy to shorten. You will drill out the front of the bed cut the extra off and re plugweld it back together, the bed is also wider than an f100 but if you plan on putting g a bed floor in you can get the f100 style wood kit then when installed you have 2 in or so wheel tubs we ran an 8in wide 18 in tourqe thrust with a near explorer 8.8 rear end which was narrower than the f250 and it came with 390 gears and disk brakes for 200$ forms the boneyard. WWW.drivenrodandcustoms.com we have pics up of it

Since it's going to be converted into a f100 are you expecting to get the same amount of money that you would get from the exact same f100 ? If u get what I mean or will it turn people off because it is a f250 rather than a f100

I'm just trying to be realistic because if it's going to be way less just because it is a f250 even tho it has f100 badges and all I'd rather just flip it and wait for a f100 to come on the market before I get to into it

(I'm in Australia by the way so these types of cars go like hot cakes)

I think if you shorten it install a mustang 2 up front 4 link the rear with a nice 350 with a 700r trans you would have a nice cruiser. The project were doing we plan on having 7 or 8 into prob could pull 20 to the right guy were running a tpi 350

I don't have to worry about the tray cause I'm going to leave it as is

But if the f250 isn't priced close to the f100 I might remove the tow hitch sell the ute and buy a f100 and attach it , I personally like the f250 as I looked on google for almost a hour and couldn't find as many as the f100 but then I worry that the value is not good on them , at the end of the day I feel if I do the project correctly it could fetch a much as a f100 just seeing what everyone else thinks

As a restoration prob not but as a mildly hot rodded cruiser I think it would be up there with a 100 we got our truck a nice rust free one for 2500 if it were a 100 it prob would have been 4000 and with what we wanted to do with it the conversion was easy. all in good planning

    Are 1958 short-wide Ford F-100's desirable? In Australia ?

In Australia they are desirable but not as much as the 48-56 series. You can pick a 58 up for 4000 where the exact same condition 56 ur looking at 10000 plus and that's with a engine not working , it's amazing how much they cost here even in terrible condition

  16. I'm pretty sure that in 56 F-100 and F-250's, the fenders were all the same. The large opening fender, I think, were only if it had the 19.5 or 22.5" wheels (as versus the 16 and 16.5") and these were mainly F350 (actually that may be F600, can't remember for sure) and up.

The fenders (at least the one in the pic) are the same as F100. The value in this truck is the patina and wrecker bed. If you goal is a nice F100 short box, there are muck better places to start. If you shorten the frame, put a box on it, and replace all the tin(due to rust/bondo) your not really gaining much to start with this one. Also, it almost looks like the rear of the frame is cut off behind the rear axle??

I just measured the front fender wheel opening and it is 85cm roughly is that the same as the f100 ( sorry tape didn't have inches) my aim is to completely restore it with new paint and all and might even put air ride (ridetech) if I can work out how it will work with the tow hitch . I am also going to get a custom fuel tank made from some guys here to work with the truck
