Thanks Jimmy! Yea I hear ya it's probably one o my favorite custom touches. I did a lot of research on them before I made the move. It looks like in a lot of old pictures that the hole for the plate is smaller then the plate itself. So what I did is I angled the bottom leg of the box up about 45. This way it had that tucked in look. And the plat has to slide in from the top of the opening.

Did my steering column. 36 column 33 box and gears and 36 Bering hub. All welded together without a crack thanks to some assistance from NealincA .

  3. The way you have done it looks good also a good way to keep the body sealed

I do think you're right with how it was done in the 40s/50s The hole does seem smaller than the plate. Bill Likes roadster is probably the best example

Well it's kinda experimental rite now, but it has Berings in the housing for the pitman shaft. When the earlier boxes had brass bushings. It shouldn't make a big difference I just wanted to try it out.

I've been slacking on updates. Made the seat, used a foam base and upholstered the bottom part of the seat. This was my first time sewing I guess I got lucky! Blew the dust off my girlfriends old 1920s singer sewing machine watched a ton of YouTube videos to figure out how it works Then went at it. It was actually pretty easy. I'll get more pictures of the windshield and wheel wel covers.

  20. Love the non welded filler skirts behind the rear wheels, form and function that can be reversed. Your idea or was that a find in your research?

Thanks! I've seen one picture of a car from the late 40s that has what looks like bolt on skirts. I'll try and find the picture.
