Got a '36 with CE front & rear end kit and appropriately spaced rims for 235/75/15 and 185/65/15's. I want to use black walls and the only tires I can find are Kumho's, just doesn't seem right to have "foreign" tires on traditional style hot rod. Anybody running American brand black walls in above mentioned size?
When I had the same dilemma as you I was happy to find Diamond Back Tires http://www.dbtires.com/ Just about any tire listed in their catalog can be ordered blackwall or even blackwall smoothies where they remove all the lettering etc (except for the small DOT note)
Even most "American" brands are foreign owned. My thought is the same as NickJT above. Buy the tires that work and buff off the lettering. Kumho tires, in my experience, are good tires. I run BFG, Michelin, Yokohama on my OT vehicles and Kumho on my '40 Buick and trailer. Best trailer tires I have found so far.
