I know many here will talk down upon....But I dig custom parts and lowriders. I am looking to find somebody to make me a custom set for my 56 ford 2dr sedan and my 60 f100 big window.
This place sells blinds for chevys but maybe you can contact them and ask them if any of their blinds could be modified to fit your FoMoCos. Click on the link below http://autovenetianblinds.com/
Lowes believe it or not, or home depot. You give them the dimensions and then they will custom make them for you. Some cars pull the blinds off real well. I used to see them in A coupes a lot, I think that it may have been an accessory at one time.
Yeah it was an accessory at the time. The only problem I will have is the rear gl*** in my 56 sedan and the 60 f100 wrap a lot and that angle might be a problem
It would be nice if someone could post some pix of vintage cars (stock or otherwise modified) with blinds. Sorry, I don't have any photos but I do remember them well. I always thought the more modern 50's cars with curved one-piece rear gl*** looked cool with a straight set of blinds in the center (straightest part) of the back gl***, leaning out at the bottom, and parallel to the gl***, so the blinds looked like stair steps. To make them work you must have flat gl***. By design Venician blinds can't be curved, so I don't know how you would make them look good in the rear window of that 56 Ford. Edit looked at the http://autovenetianblinds.com/ website, they are using several short sections to "kind of" follow the window. I don't care for the look.
This is still a common accessory in Australia. They do have venetians that are curved. You may need to rummage around for companies down there who can fit your particular car, but it is AN option available to you if you want: http://www.ebay.com.au/bhp/rear-venetian There may well be a set for your car, but made in Australia for that car, back in the day....
This is a little weird. In 1968 I had my first job in a gas station, one of our customers was an old couple who came in once or twice a year in a black 1950 Cadillac sedan that I bet they owned from new. It had a white venetian blind in the back window. It must have been a Cadillac dealer accessory because it was curved to fit the window. I never saw another venetian blind in a car, and up until today never heard anyone mention them.
For all you wise guys... you may know how to make a Venetian blind but do you know how to make a fruit cordial?
I have set for my 46 Olds sedanette similar to Orn's 76. Still tossing up whether or not to use them?
