can someone help me on this , my 50 the original starter ****on and ignition switch ***embly were taken out before I bought the car , and I am needing to replace them both , I need a picture of the starter ****on and the bezel ring around it and the same on the starter so I can try to find a match for the originals . all the key switches I find are threaded and I believe the ignition switch one is held in with the tumble portion of the switch . so If you can please take a close up picture of the 2 for me . thanks .

I have a '50 Olds that may be the same but it had the ignition switch replaced when I got it and the one I used is of the same aftermarket variety. I can take a pic of the ***embled starter ****on if you'd like.

I'll dig through my stock stuff today and see if I kept either one - not sure, but I'll look.

thanks Bobert no need to as I saw a olds Oem push****on stater in a picture and it was quite different than the Pontiac , it had a big bezel around it ( looked a hell of a lot better than the lone little chrome plunger that mine was supposed to have ) I just do not want the cheap knurled ring looking thingy and trying to see if it uses the GM 2 or 3 prong tool bezel style , as for the Olds Ignition switch its mounted on a flat surface were Pontiacs dash is curved .

NM if you can I would greatly apreciate it and if you want to sell them let me know ..

I don't see either but I do have the stock headlight switch and bezel - maybe these will help get an idea for the style. I have some other stock interior stuff down in my other shop in Reserve, NM - 300 miles away but I'll be going down there in Feb some time and will look then.

Doesnt a 50 pontiac have a starter ****on under the accelerator pedal originally. I recall you pushed down on the accelerator pedal and it engaged the starter...

you might want to save this picture for future reference. Hope it helps. The part # for the starter switch is 1996053 (49-52 all LHD) and the parts list also shows a starter ****on bushing part # 1911548. Both in Group 2.10 There is a NOS Oldsmobile starter switch (same part #) on EBay for $38.99 (or offer) and the mounting bushing also on EBay for $29.99 - it looks like the bushing (nut) is the same as a Chevy 49-55 truck.

ok wit the part numbers you gave me I found a completely new push ****on and nut on national chevys for 50 bucks which isn't bad since the bushing alone was 30 , so thats getting ordered , the olds key switch bushing ( 2.188) from what a friend said is flat , so I still have to look for that yet ,

Btw thanks for the parts numbers it helps out as I can ussually search by them .

I have to over to the car now as the P.O. might have removed the switch mount bracket under the dash , and I have to check for that as that might throw up some problems .

You don't happen to have an extra hood ornament for a 50 Pontiac would you?
