Here is a 50 Silver Streak that is in my backyard, I am selling it for a buddy. But it is really growing on me after looking through threads like this. Might have to hang on to this one...

  3. Loveland's only eight hours away, how much for the car???
There's a '41 or '42 Chevy Master Deluxe coupe for sale here. looks
kind of rough but no rust and very salvageable. They're asking $1650.00.
I'd much rather consider something like this Ponch...

  4. I thought something was up when I saw those headers.

Has anybody seen or remember this '55 Catalina hardtop? I sold in in '86 ? to a guy in Fairmont Indiana who intended to turn it into a white/ red low-rider custom. It had P/S, P/B and .030 over '57 short block, tri-power cam and modified 4 speed Hydro. I'd just like to know if it still exists.

  8. ........ Haven't put any Pontiac art up for a while... Man I love this thread...

A sketch of what I'm thinking of going with my (numbers matching) '69 Custom S.
GTO hoods were available on the options list and the dog dishes will be correct
    '69 versions.

The 1962 late edition HD 421 was no slouch especially with the dealer installed performance options. It ruled many a race day in this part of the nation.

  11. Really? That's odd because that's my car...bought it in the 80s, sold it and now it's at my buddy, Kenny's place in Iowa...title still in my name he says.....weird!
BTW..parts stored inside are from a 37 six cylinder car and all the front sheetmetal stored there won't fit the green car..it's an 8 cylinder car.

Well, since Uncle Sam is paid back. I hope GM will relaunch Pontiac in some form.

  14. The hood not the snout.
I defer to your knowledge on this. It was a long time ago I was talking with a 'Pontiac'
body man who'd mentioned it. No to be confused with GTOs that were available with the
Chrome bumper grille, by the way.
Nothing worse than being embarrassed by the facts on a public forum full of car guys
    but, hey,... I'm teachable.
My car still has it's original hood but I have an opportunity to get a 69 GTO hood. I don't
want to make a GTO clone, I hate when guys do that, so I'll be holding on to my smooth
hood even if I decide to go with the GTO one for a while.
Still not sure I'll do it but having the hood would be nice anyway.
    Thanks for the info!

Not a problem! I'd rather inform than let somebody go around with wrong info. Oh, by the way, I meant to write that the "hood" was a GTO exclusive since that was what you were referring to originally. Thank a 6:30 AM mind for that omission!

If you'd like something a little different for your LeMans, there are two alternatives to the GTO hood. One was an option that Pontiac listed in their 1969 performance brochure but was never released (to the best of my knowledge)... a small, rearward facing scoop that mimicked the hood tach but was placed on the right side of the hood, with a hose running to the air cleaner inlet. I believe it was intended to be an option on the 350 HO powered LeMans and Firebird, but I don't think it ever made it to production, I know that I've never seen on or seen any reference to it anyplace other than that brochure.

The other idea comes from a '69 Firebird that I saw many years ago while I was in college. The owner had added a shaker scoop from a '70-76 Trans Am to the standard non-scooped hood.... it fit so nicely into the "ironing board" area of the hood, you'd think that Pontiac had installed it there themselves! I'm not sure if the width of that area on your hood would accommodate one of those scoops, but it might be worth looking into.
