What do you guys recommend to keep polished br*** from tarnishing?
I just polished the br*** door knobs from the house I just bought. This doesn't have anything to do with cars, but the house was built in 41. So it's from the right era.

    Thanks

You have to clearcoat it to keep it from tarnishing. Go to your Home Depot or local hardware store and ask. They will have the product.

  3. but be careful, if you are going to use it on, say a br*** radiator, it will become discolored if **** gets on it (boiling engine overflow) other than that it is great for the lazy who don't like to polish thier br***.

Most all br*** comes laquered from the manufacturer to keep it from tarnishing. To keep it shiny you must laquer it once it is polished. And be sure to keep the set screws tight! Nothing ruins a door knob quicker than loose screws.

Funny, usually I am explaining to people how to take off the laquer and make their new br*** match their old door knobs.

Any more old house questions PM me.

O/t but when I worked at a resteraut in college we used "Arbys" sauce to clean our copper pipes in the back. Low buck and works well.
