Bought a 40 ford coupe has been sitting for 7 years. Got it running after redoing brakes and dizzy. Runs and drives good. will leave the flathead in and repaint body and redo upholstery. Will post pictures as I go. Great site for information.
Danny, Welcome to the 40 club. Wish mine had been that far along...but I'm working on it...Congrats. Murph
Nice score. You are doing it right, fixing brakes, getting it running. Drive and enjoy while you work on it. You will find it is a lot more fun driving it and you will be more motivated to keep it on the road while you make improvements. HAVE FUN>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Interesting, the 14" wheels. ('57 Chrysler, by any chance? 5-on-5-1/2") The wheel and tire choice would hint at how long ago those were fitted... Beautiful car, BTW. Love the Standards.
Welcome to the wonderful world of '40s'. I drive mine to the hardware store, grocery, and for little stuff the lumber yard. I meet people I wouldn't have met any other way wanting to tell me stories about people they knew growing up who had '40s. I picked up my buddy Jim when I first got mine, and he said "You know buddy, I remember when this car was new"!
Looks like you have a great car there, mine started out with very similar interior. It was last licensed in 83 then sat for 25 years. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App
Rims or 14 inch 5x5.5,old tires that were on it was polyglass goodyear that had dry rotted. Working on floor board, it has no rot on floor boards, will por15 and line with sound insulation material. Long way to go will be seeking input and knowledge. Danny
I'm in the same mode as you- my flattie is a '49 Merc, and its staying. I'm getting it safe and functional, and driving it. Mine's a Deluxe.
