ok.... it's time to figure out a grill shell for my 27 coupe. Whatever I do, it will be custom, so I am looking for HAMB'rs to weigh in. I will have to chop up whatever I do, but what does everyone think about....

    • 27 shell?
    • Model A shell?
    • Duece shell?
    • other
Also... do I just chop it at the frame or do I look at making something longer work.... maybe sectioning around the suspension or laying at an angle. No fear of chopping, sectioning, reworking, tc.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Be different. Us a T shell on your t instead of a 32 like all the rest do. You would just need to spray bomb the radiator black.

  4. x3 I'm actually a fan of the late T shell on a T. '32 shells on T's end up having to be sectioned beyond all recognition and to my eye look terrible. BTW if it's the same car in your avatar, don't change a thing. It looks *****in'.

T shell. Or a track nose, depending on what the rest of the car looks like.

A buddy mounted his front spring with one center bolt like that. It snapped in short order. Made for a frightening experience. You might want to consider a pair of u-bolts to secure it.

I vote track nose. They look better on a T than any other vehicle.

Yeah, the front spring mount scares the **** out of me.... it needs to be redone. is actually bending at the weld. I didn't build the car, I inherited the issues when I bought it. I don't know what I am going to do with the spring setup, but I know I need to do something. Anyone have any ideas, I would appreciate hearing them.

BTW,,, this is a different radiator than in my avatar... this one is taller (and actually works :), so I need a new grill shell regardless. Just not sure what to do.

I vote cut off 32 grille with a custom insert.. You could buy a fibergl*** one that has the solid grille area and drill large round holes in it and paint the outside a different color than the inside and not have much money in whole custom grille...

Speedway sells a spring mount like that and they're really cheap. I think it's just pre-cut pieces and the U bolts to match, you weld it up.

Grille shell is going to depend on the dimensions of your new radiator. Some stuff isn't going to fit.

still can't decide on a grill shell... so I am going to get a couple and start playing with ideas. Good thing the swap meet season is coming, maybe I can score some ****py shells that I can use for mocking up.

Also.... my suicide mount looks a little scarier than it is, is actually braced underneath.... but I took the advice and will be doing top reinforcement plates and u-bolts (just ordered from Speedway). Thanks!
