Were there any companies that made the big marine aluminum timing cover/motor mounts for the Chevy 348 - 409 engine? If so,......anyone have any pics?
Can't say anything about the front mounts but any rear mount from a chevy small block too a big block will fit. The bell housing bolt patterns are all the same.
We pulled a pair of marine 409"s a while back and they had automotive timing covers. The only thing I remember is the Mallory distributors. Only one had a tach drive. Always wondered how they knew how fast the other engine was turning? jack vines
Nicson made everything needed to convert a W engine for marine use and there's a set of 348/409 exhaust manifolds on ebay right now. At 375 bucks they're a steal.
You can tell by the sound the engines make and by the amount of vibration, when twin engines are running out of sync you can usually hear and feel a rhythmic hum.
i know this thread is a little old, but to answer your question...yes. cal marine made an aluminum timing chain cover/front motor plate. it had a provision in the front for a cam driven fuel pump or water pump.
