Bought me a 37 Chevy Business Coupe this weekend. Dang I can't get caught up on the projects I already have but always wanted me a coupe. Ran across this one not far up the road and couldn't pass it up. Body's in good shape. needs the bottom patch panels, rocker panels, and bottom doors, floor's about half there. It'll make a good one. Now I just gotta figure out how to slide it in the shop unnoticed.
...looks like a good project, looks like it's been rodded at one time, has mags on rear?...and nice it has the beam axle,... these are gettin tuff to find; here's mine for inspiration, a 37 tho...
Might be titled 1937, but that's 1938 sheetmetal. Nice score, great body lines, and definitely getting hard to find in either year.
It's got the 38 grill and hood on it. He's got the 37 grill and hood that comes with the deal. It'll make a nice project either way I decide to go. It was a Georgia car so there is no paperwork besides a bill of sale. that's the problem.
Just finished a 38 with 37 front sheet metal for a friend of mine. They are a nice ride for sure. His gets much attention whereever he goes. I have a original package tray for it if you need one.
I got the coupe home yesterday. Took it by the car wash and sprayed it off. Can't wait to get started on this one. Gotta finish my 37 Ford pickup first. that's the plan anyways. The 37 grill and hood that came extra with the car is in rough shape. the hood tops both have a lot of rust holes in them. the grill shell is decent but the grill is gone. not sure whether to run the 37 or 38 grill both look good but I kinda like the looks of the 37 grill better.
All in all it looks pretty solid.I've started with lots worst. Personally I like the 37 nose the best. Keep us posted on your progress.
Yeah,South Carolina is a bear when it comes to titles,,might be able to get one of the Ga. Hambers to help with paperwork. HRP
Thats awesome. Ive always liked 37 Chevys. Tried to buy one that was sitting in a field years ago, but owner wouldnt sell. I think it rotted away.
I've had a 37 business coupe spotted for about a year, finaly caught the owner at the property recently, he's willing to sell. Its rougher than yours, trying to decide if I wanna tackle it.
Beautiful cars! I have a 38 Chevy Coupe My self What do you need to register the car in your home town? Are you missing the engine # tag? JW
What a great car. What are your plans? Custom or Gasser? I personally would lean towards the gasser style. I am guessing that the front grills between a 37 and a 38 are interchangeable? What rear end is in it? It would be interesting to see if it has any history??? Take some more pics if you can man! Would love to see under to hood Jay
I think the 37 Chevy Coupe is by far the best looking car of the period. The designer certainly had a good eye for detail .
...yeah, except for the hood side louvers being upside down, should be flipped side for side....factory screwup.
Need some help locating the vin numbers on this car... There is a tag on the passenger side under the hood in front of the door, above the "Body by fisher tag". It has some numbers stamped on the tag. Could this be the vin? Any help is appreciated.
Yes, that is where mine is on my 38 coupe. For a 37, the prefix will be GA (master deluxe) or GB (master) if its actually a 38, the number will begin with HA or HB. Also it's not a VIN, it's either a body or engine number, which depending on the state it was registered used one or the other.
Great looking coupe and great score. Found mine recently up in Oklahoma, this is how it looked when I bought it, old gray primer then sprayed it in black to protect the steel. About to start the build, keeping it old school correct to the period gasser..
