I saw a Starliner thread and thought I would throw up some pictures of my project. How can you not love this body style!

That's my second fave Fomoco body style, close after my '64 Marauder.
Gotta love anything that the fins start at the front bumper!!!!

Looks great. Love those Starliners. Hope you were able to save that back window when you took it out. I would imagine they are quite difficult to replace.

As a kid I hated that car. Now they're one of my favorites. 61's aren't too bad either. Would be a hard choice for me if I was going to pick one up.
What are your drivetrain plans for it?

I took the original motor and bored it to a standard 390. 9.4-1 Speed Pro pistons, Edelbrock Performer cam. Original heads, new valves and springs, hardneded seats, polished chambers and cleaned up the runners. Factory Ford aluminum manifold with Holley 670 cfm carb. C6 trans with the lower 1st and 2nd gears. FPA ceramic coated headers to clear the power rack and pinion unit.

Best roofline Ford ever made. I really want one of the '60 Edsel versions. What are the plans for this car?

It is a surprise gift for my father. He bought one new in 1959. I have heard about his Starliner my whole life. He sold it before my brothers and I were born.

Now that's cool!! My Dad bought a '61 390-401 Starliner new when he was 19 years old. He sold it to his brother in 1963 so he could buy the house I grew up in. His brother promply flipped and totaled it. I grew up hearing those same stories like you did.

Dad found and bought another 390-401 car just like his original in 1989 and still has it. He won't ever sell this one!! It's going to my son when the time comes...

The '60 Starliner is my favorite whale-body Ford. I like the fact that it has an FE also.

Its coming along well, thanks. Finished the engine, dropped it in and broke in the cam over the holidays. The engine still needs some tuning, but I'm working on suspension, brakes and steering now. We are hoping to drive it to the GoodGuys show up here at the end of March. The body still needs tons of work though. It looks no where near as good as your car does. My avatar is a shot of the engine. Here's a link to a video of the initial start up, if you're interested.

It was a great day! My dad's face says it all. He shakes his head, nods in approval/excitement and smiles. I don't think he ever thought he would hear that engine breath again. As for tickets, I think everyone there paid their dues one way or another. =)
