Hello.. Searced but didnt find anything! Does anyone now if the 36- frame is the same for passenger cars and pickup trucks? or can they be made to fit whit minor changes? Thanks..
All cars and pickups with buggy springs are practically the same 35-40 and 41 pickups . big truck is different. Minor differences in body mounts and obviously hydraulic brakes from 39 , but your 36 pickup will go on a 36 car frame, no problem. Pickup frames changed to parallel leaf springs in 42, car chassis was still buggy sprung but different to the earlier ones from 41.
as noted, car and truck frames interchange. the biggest important difference is the radiator mounting. it varies from style year range to range. EX, a 36 frame will have the radiator in the wrong place if using 40 sheetmetal. http://www.wescottsauto.com/WebCatalog/Tech/FrameDiagram1935-40.pdf
Cars have body mounts on the outside of the frame. These can be taken off or added as necessary to swap the frame. Mart.
the pickup frames are thicker (10 gauge) than the car 11 gauge frames google is your friend http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=133905 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=850427 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=739224
