I was wondering what would be the best and easiest rear end swap to put into a 1948 Ford F-3 pickup. I have the original 226 6 cylinder which is a little bit tuned up and a 4 speed ******. I want to get some better highway speeds but keep a lot of my pulling power too.

    Thanks

To keep it 8 lug and the same width you probally want to find a dana 60 out of a 72 or earlier f250

Depending or your tire size I would recommend 4.56 or 4.11 gears.

Thanks, right now I am running a 4.86 and am getting maybe 55 mph tops with 17 inch wheels.

Does your truck have an hd3 speed or a 4 speed?

If it has a granny 4 speed you probally could even get away with 3.50's. but that may be pushing things a bit.

Currently the 4speed. Same as what is in my F-5.

Any other suggestions just to keep it the same width?
