Which spindles are good ones to go with on my 62 Bel Air. Its a stock front suspension, drum brakes, straight 6, 14" stock steel wheels.
I have cpp 2" drop spindles on my 62 Bel Air. No complaints. I bought the complete disc brake conversion, drop spindles and springs.
I've been looking, I was trying to keep cost down and not do the disc brake conversion, but it looks like I might not have any choice. Most drop spindles available are not compatible with a stock front setup
I'm in the same place as you with my '63. If I really had to keep the stock drums it looks to me that they could be adapted to work. It would require the backing plate be rotated so that the cylinder and adjusting slot clear the dropped spindle. I also wonder if the disc conversion changes the offset of the wheel mounting surface. The other thing to consider is are your wheels going to clear the calipers? Very likely not. Guess what, new wheels at a minimum, plus mounting etc.$$$$ I'm considering modifying my A-arms instead.
That's a bummer, I'm trying to keep stock wheels, actually, I want to keep everything stock. I just want to lower it a little bit without cutting the coils.
