Does anyone have information on mounting the front axle on a 50 chevy truck on top of the springs? I was told you could do it mounting (weld) a 1/4" thick plate on the bottom of the axle. Any thoughts?

Would give you very little clearance to the frame, will cause problems with the steering
and is going to cause problems with the scrub line. Dropped axle or lowering springs are
about 350 and are a much safer way to go, though a dropped axle will also need some steering mods.
