Doubt many here knew Bill, he was a hard core racer that very, very few could match his dedication .. A lot changes in life from time to time, but, not Bill, he raced every weekend no matter what When I was just a pee wee, he drove to the track and ran a 1958 Ford 312 t-bird power with 3 pedals Later in life he got a 2 door sedan Fairlane BBF with a 4 speed One day, he jumped on the brakes a bit hard and over she went When the car stopped, he was held in place with just a lap belt and his two hands on the wheel He walked away and the racers took a donation and some helped him and he was back out the very next week Now, with a hardtop (and real seat belts , roll cage Lol) I last talked to Bill in about 2000, he said he was going to spend a little time with family and watch kids play baseball he was a great guy, great racer .. honor to know yah WILLY B ! RIP , just wanted to say goodbye, thanks for the place to do it http://siouxcityjournal.com/news/local/obituaries/article_88f21251-1236-5ecd-82f1-83b0dedc9556.html
RIP Mister Barrett. So many unknowns doing it just for the love of racing. The foundation of what we do.
I got to meet Willy! I was just a kid but he was someone that you couldn't forget. He was friends with my uncles (Amelang brothers) that also raced at Thunder Valley. We'd visit there a couple times a year and there was always a weekend spent at the track.
