Hello, my name is Lonnie, and I'm from the Joplin MO area. I bought a 1950 3window and a 51 5window truck at a farm auction several years ago. I was around 18 at the time. Unfortunately the 5window was rusted down pretty bad and will be the parts truck. I've recently started sourcing parts to get started. Decided to go with an S-10 frame and LS motor as I want this to be a comfortable daily driver when finished. I plan to keep the body mods simple; I don't have a lot of experience or tools for body work so I'll be asking questions. I do have some machining background. Aside from what I have for the farm (welder, torch, grinders, engine stand, hoist)... what equipment should I be looking to pick up? Thanks, for your time and I'll be researching ideas.
Welcome. Wouldn't it been helpful to mention what kinda trucks those are? I know now but WTF? By the way, I don't think your project is gonna be HAMB friendly.
Chevy AD trucks... must have deleted that when editing. As far as Not being HAMB friendly, I'm not looking to post about the trucks, the engine choice would be the only objection I can think of... as there are several here using the S10 frame. I believe the intro is required before I can ask questions in other threads or use other resources from the site. That's why I bothered at all. Usually I just lurk for information.
You did good. I'm just bein a groucy old man. I have a 1950 Chevy 1/2 ton panel truck with a 350/350 and............. MMII front suspension. Don't tell.
