Bought a 54 Ford Customline want to lower rear 3" and front 3". Bought rear blocks and will buy Areostar coils for front will this cause any complications with drive shaft , tires etc using 225/75/r15s all around with stock rims thanks for any info
Join our Social Group here:http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=332 We have a ton of info available for your Ford.No issue with the driveshaft, but the 1952-54 Fords are a PIA because of the shallow rear wheel wells it can be hell changing a flat if you have not bought the 225/75's the 205/75's are a much better fit and the car will look lower. The original '54 Ford tires were 670 X 15" which is now the 205/75/15.
Your gonna need several jacks if you ever have a flat. Any old car you lower the drive shaft will sometimes smack the drive shaft tunnel if you hit a nasty pot hole or bump.
I had lowered my 56 mainline years ago by curring a few coils upfront and taking a few leafs from the rear and flipping the shackles. It actually drove decent. Like stated previously, drive shaft will slap the tunnel or rub on the rear of the tunnel and howl. I ended cutting a notch out of mine. Now the car lays frame on air ride and soon will be body dropped or "channelled".
I actually have a set of white wall 205/75 15s never mounted ,have been lost in one of my storage buildings for about a year or so ,will pull them out. Thanks for the tip. How do you join the social group as this is all new to me . I've been a member for a while but not to good on computer (hunt & peck method ) getting a tad bit better. This is also my first 54 Ford just plan on minor mods lowering ,new fuel tank ,complete rewire job , 239 runs great car has 50000 miles 2 small rust spots on passenger lower front fender and rear lower rocker same side (both about size of quarter. will post pics when I learn how THANKS all
