My dad found his dream car 6 months ago. 48 Anglia they said 1600 bucks he got the money went back and it was 2200 he went back sratched up the rest then gave them the money. Siting on the bumper proud as a pea**** waiting on the rollback that couldnt come for an hour and a half. The wife pulls up and says she thinks it is worth more and 2200 isnt enough. Dad the nice guy he is gets upset and says thats all it is worth to him and asks for his money back. He gets it and says it just wasnt meant to be. I could tell it crushed him though. His name around town has always been G***er Dave.

I took it upon myself to keep up with the car and even called as someone else to ask how much, they said 4200. I said they were crazy. I got a call from my buddy that works next door to the car and he said the price is 2500. and someone is looking at it seriosly. I went and looked at the car. It is set up for a SBC with a gl*** and metel nose. Fairly solidstock frame and front end. was street driven in the early 80s. It has the windsheild and all the gl*** but the two doors. What do you guys think it is worth. I need to know in a few hours. I will go to them give them the money and as soon as it is in there hands I will nextel the roll back siting around the corner to hook on to this ***** and go. I will get the ***le after I get it home. Is it worth 2500. That is the bottom doller. I want to get it for him for Xmas. I plan on having the famaly pitch in for it. I barrowed the money but if he gets mad that I bought it anyway can we move it for what I have in it. I know it is hard to tell without pics but what do you think.

They are hard to find...and yeah, I'd probably spring for the 2500...especially if it means that much to your Dad...

If the car sold that fast at 1600 and no one argued at 2200, then they upped the price to see where it would quit...2500 seems to be top dollar (and 4200 is completely out of range)...but they are greedy SOB's.

Take a chance, argue a bit and give them what they want...just make sure the ***le is clear and they sign it over to you right when you hand them the money!

$2500 is a good price and worth every penny to get G***er Dave back in action. Those weasels should've stuck to their original $1600 deal, but I digress...I'm an Anglia guy (had a couple - still have one), and would glady pay 2500 - if things change later, you can always at least get your money back. I say do it...

Dude, if you're doing this for your Dad, $2500 is probably cheap.

Those people are ******** artists, it's only $2500 until you get there, then they want more. Those kind of people can go **** themselves.

If it really, really means that much to your dad, bring the $2500 in cash and get it away from those ***holes. But if they try pulling any of that ******** "upping the price" stuff, tell them to **** off. Those kind of people don't need to be making money like that.

Take witnesses and at least get a written bill of sale, write it yourself if you have to and get them to sign it. You're dealing with obvious jerks.

Its going down in the morning. The old guy that sold it to my dad is in bad health and in a wheel chair. He was with my dad when the wife came up and said no. I really think he feels bad. All he does is complain about his ***** wife and he promised me that she will take 2500. She still wants more but told him the bottom doller is 2500. He says it is in her name. She leaves for work at 9:00. He asks my buddie to help him do everything. He owns the property where my buddy works. I told the old man that I needed to think about it. Dave says he has left for the day so no one could get the car becouse they would have to go through him to get in touch with the old guy. I am going to show up after the wife leaves at 9:00 with the money and the bill of sale. The rollback will be around the corner on call. I will then go back to get the ***le if they try to jerk me around I will remove all the numbers and get a ***le from somewhere. The car is also going to a buddies race car shop to be guted cleaned and a cage put in. They wouldnt even begin to know where it was. My dad has done so much for me and this will be one of the nicest moments we will ever have when he gets it on Xmas morning. WISH ME LUCK!!

Why are there so many outright crazy people involved with old cars?
See if your "friend next door" will buy it from them for the $2500 and turn it to you.
They may have a personality conflict going with you or your dad that you don't even know about.
Could be just jealousy from you having more teeth than them, or anything :D

I wish someone who knows this guy would warn him about buying a car from someone who DOSEN'T own it. Your asking for trouble for the rest of your life with the car. When the time comes (and it will) do you want to sell a hot car to someone. If you can't get a clean ***le when you fork over the cash P*** ON IT. You already know the people are trouble, how much more do you want. Sorry, but thats what I'd tell my own son. That and thanks for trying, it's the thought that counts.

Same thing happened to me about 5 years back...saw a killer 55 austin healey/289 hi-po and a 4 gear. The interior was ratty, but my wife loved it.
The friday night it was $7500.00...the Sat nite it 10,000 grand and Sunday nite I told him to get ****ed.....the price rose to 12,500.

that was then, this is now....it still sits there at the back of his shop........rotting.

    .....***hole.

  26. P*** on it. Too complicated, too much drama, too much baggage. Life is too short and there will be another one just like it next week.

Don't allow insignificant junk like an old car jerk you around.

    Next!

Man, don't get tunnel vision here. People like that don't deserve to profit from their righteous arrogance. **** her and the high horse she rode in on. Don't be the ****er that buys it. Let her sit on her treasure and keep looking for a better deal with an honest, straighfoward person. They're out there.

Yes, it's very admirable that you want to do that for your dad, at whatever cost, but don't let that blind you...this woman is a ****in' ****er!

Thanks for the advise. I am taking it into consideration. I am no young kid. I know all about the problems with no ***le. The guy has a yard full of junk they also live in a ratty mobile home. I just think they are dumb white trash, I dont think it is stolen BUT I am having my detective freind look into it before any work is done. I do know two drag racers that have parts cars that they are not willing to sell but said I could buy the vin and ***le. If they dont have the ***le. I dont even know. But that car is leaving before the wife comes home!

I wish you luck on this but remember, if the ***le is in the old ladys name and the old man signs something...you got nothing.
