I heard the HAMB was the place to go for information, tips and general ***istance for building a hot rod. I would like to turn a 29 dodge sedan into a stock looking but upgraded driver. I live in northern Alberta, Canada where parts and advice are slim to non-exsistent. I need to know what types of parts that may fit or need modifications to fit. Fords seem to be the easiest to get parts for. Do the parts for fords lend themselves to be used for other makes. I am mechanically inclined and can do almost everything myself I just need to know what I have to do. The car is complete except for the interior and has sat in a farmers field for the last 60 years and is rusty but not rotten. I dont know how to post a picture and can barely use the computer, something I will have to get better at. Any help would be appreciated.
Welcome. I think you'll find all the information you need here to work on your 29 Dodge. I've never been to Fort McMurray but we ship a lot of valves we manufacture here in Pennsylvania up there into the various oil sands projects. Do you work in an oil sands related job? We're grateful for all the business from up there so keep up the good work! I'm doing my part to burn up the oil as fast as I can.
Welcome from British Columbia! Many years ago I had a 29 Dodge sedan, so I am looking forward to seeing how your project progresses.
Welcome from a bit south of you in Camrose Alberta. I'm not building a car at the moment, but 2 International trucks.
Thanks for the replies, I have worked in the oil sands directly, as a heavy equipment operator for the last 29 years. I am at the tail end of my operating career and wish to pursue my 2 p***ions, HOT RODS and HUNTING. Since I could not afford much in the way of a true hot rod while raising a family and working for a living I figure now is the time to invest some money and lots of time to build a few vintage cars and trucks into drivers to enjoy. I really like the old stuff and I found a few about 400 miles away on a remote farm where the farmer has built a small 1925 era town and ****tered vehicles of that period around as if it were all abandoned. Out back of that he has 500+ vintage vehicles of all makes and condition, some in buildings and most out in the open. What a smorgasbord of automobilia. I bought a 1927 Chrysler, a 1929 Dodge, a 1931 Studebaker, and a 1935 Chevrolet. I also own a few 60s and 70s vehicles that I managed to pick up fairly cheap over the years. I am just finishing a new house for my wife and I and in the spring I start my barn/workshop. The rest of my days will be spent hunting on my own property and spending lots of hours on cars and trucks in the barn. I have 442 shifts left to work and then I am beholden to no company timeclock.
