I am about to the point of needing doors for my 34 pu project. I have 3-4 rh doors with the best of them only fair but I wouldn't be afraid to tackle repairs. My only LH door is rough. The bottom couple inches inside and out are gone but the worst is the whole hinge area clear to the top is very thin. Are there any repair panels available besides the outer skin? Or is there any doors out there?
That depends on who's doing it. Some of the guys on here can fix anything, simply amazing. That said, they had to learn somehow, right?
Try fixing what you have and keep an eye out for a better one. You might have to fork out good money because they're hard to come up with. Especially in the midwest a lot of the farmers took them off because they were in the way of corn picking setups. That being said there has to be some really nice ones hanging on shed walls somewhere...
I know they are out there. about 10-12 yrs ago I bought a pair at Hershey. They were perfect, no patch panels & none needed but the hinges were torn a bit. some one started repairs & got cold feet. The guy wanted all thet were worth. I made an offer & he says give me my price & I'll sweeten the deal with some stuff I have at home. I went for it and a few weeks later I drive a couple hundred miles to his house. I couldn't believe what he gave me. I was able to sell some of it and got most of my money back and I still have a decent set of rear 34 pu fenders and a couple tail gates. I know I wont get that lucky again.
Commence repairing what you have and you'll probably be done by the time you can find a nice one for an affordable price. I went through the same thing with my '32 pu and rebuilt my door. Tim
I rebuilt the door on my 34 and they were in bad shape from the middle down. I found most of the panels from Howells and they fit well but did have to do some fitting.
