Anybody have any opinions about the different brands of radiators out there for a V-8 flathead in a F-1 Ford truck?
I had my stock rad re-cored by a local radiator shop. That was 5 years ago for a daily driver and it's just like new for a lot less. Keep the stock pressure cap.
Thanks for the info, but I don't have a radiator to rebuild. I did get a quote from US Radiator for their standard replacement copper & brass one for $317.00. Their best the Triple Flow is $484.00. Just wanting to find out if anyone had used theirs or any other brand in a F-1 Ford.
I bought one for my 50 F-1 239 about seven years ago from a dealer in Jackson NJ. He sells new 4 row coolers and at the time was the best deal that I could find. As I recall the price was around 250.00. It does a super job I might add even in the hottest conditions. He is a hemmings advertiser. PM me if you want his phone number and name.
These do show up over on the bay quite a bit and don't bring too much. I don't like to use used radiators. Mine was rotten(three leaks in one year) and was a towing bill waiting to happen. Unless money is critical I'd buy a new radiator and defer something else.
I've used several radiators from U.S. Radiator with good luck. They fit ,work and look great. Do yo have a flathead in your F-1? For guys running a smallblock Chev in your F-1's ..a 48-53 Chevy pickup radiator from U.S. fits fine with two flat straps bolted to radiator that in turn bolt to F-1 core support. And the hose outlets are correct for the Chev motor.
Flashback, You can buy one from a supplier like Walker OR, you could buy the stock one I have in the garage. Its excess parts to me. I had to buy a lot of F-1 parts when I bought my flathead. Special price for a HAMBer. PM me what you are willing to pay and we'll strike a deal. It will probably need to be recored, you should be able to do that locally to you. Better you do it than me, as FedEx might damage it in shipping. We may even be able to work a HAMB relay from AZ to NC. I can even email pictures if you want.
