I was wondering if anyone makes a cross member to install a T5 in a 49 F1 pickup. After reading 31Vickeys rant I'm not sure if I even want one from a supplier. Might be better off to fabricate. Any thoughts on this or a picture of one would be greatly appreciated.

What engine are you running? If you are removing the original F-1 X member, you need to replace it with a petty stout one as it provides support for the cab mounts and running boards as well. I built my own...

  6. I thought there was a link to a F1/F100 message board on how a guy installed a T5 in his F1?? I thought I saw it on here about a week or two ago? someone here must have the link?

Under projects section on the left menu, guy installs a T5 in a '52 F1

It's on the second page, (1952 ford truck restoration part 2-Jumping in)outlines the install

    Hope this helps....

I did this. Easy and it allows for adjustment if needed. I'm still using the stock F1 mount. You could drop it further down if needed.

Now that I see the link provided it really won't help you much. Looks like you need lots of clearance.

Thanks guys for the replies and pics. My truck is totally stock as far as the drive train goes. I know that the cross member is a important part of the frame.....that being said I'll have build it strong and removable.
