The HAMB- Last night I brought home a new toy, a 1966 Chevy Biscayne. I traded my non-running, no ***le 1956 Packard for the Biscayne. It is kind of a rolling time capsule of sorts, it was a 2 owner car. It's got 92,000 original miles on the 250 inline 6, a first for me. The original owner took meticulous, hand written service records for years, so it's fun trying to figure out what it's life was like. With that said, I would like to trick it out just a bit, nothing radical. If anyone has pics of any Biscaynes, that'd be great, I'm searching and not finding what I want. Here's a pic of it. CDR D
I believe what you have is a '65 with '66 front clip and tail lights (HAMB is for '65 and older ). My first car was a '66 Caprice 2 dr hdtp so I've always liked the looks of '66 full-size Chevrolets. Looks like you got a good one! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Nice! Plenty of tricks to hop up that 6 banger. Any plans for that engine or are you planning on a SBC?
Holy ****, totally forgot about that, my bad. As for the car/ motor, I only plan on some rims and tires, maybe a paint job and that's about it. I'm keeping the inline 6, I think the SBC has been done to death. Thanks for the comments.
A '66 Biscayne 2 door sedan is in the the top 100 or so cars on my "always wanted one of those" list. (its a long list)
You forgot about the engine?! Are you a hot rodder or not? Just kidding! That's cool. You can never go wrong with split manifold/gl***packs for an I6. They sound like no other. *cough* BROCKMAN MELLOWTONES *cough*
It's a mor-dor so keep it simple. Painted wheels with dog dish caps or chromed steelies would be my choice. That and a slight rake, like haft a coil all around.
In Tulsa back in the 70s, a guy with a 283, Powerglide 4 dr '65 Biscayne consistently won the bracket drags not because he was so fast but because he was so....consistent. He always cut a good light and then ran right on his dial-in. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I swear, I'm half asleep or car drunk, one. Right, the engine will get some performance goodies from Clifford's, some headers and a new exhaust system. Looking into a new carb and intake setup, but that's some big money there. I like and agree with the half a coil removed on all 4 corners. Still doing my research and looking for pictures of what the possibilities are. CDR D
