I have 2 sets of front fenders for 1948-50 Ford pick-up, 1 set matches my f-1 the other set are not as wide at the back of the upper fenders and the lower will not match up with my f1 fenders. Does anyone know what the fenders that are not as wide at the back would fit they are really solid except for the lower rear where they all rust out. I bought the patch kits from LMC and they were too wide that's how I found out they wouldn't fit my f1.
    Thanks For Your Help,
    Jim

The f1 has a smaller wheel opening than the f-2-3 version fender. This is noted by the thinner lower rear section of the fender on the big truck fenders. If the skirt section of the fender that forms at the rear of the tire is short than the fenders in question are big truck not pickup.

F-1s have their own fenders, F-2 through F-6 share front fenders. As stated above, the F-1 fenders have a smaller wheel opening. F-7 and F-8 have wider side to side fenders and have an even larger wheel opening.

Just to add to the subject, F-1s also have their own back fenders, the F-2 and F-3 share rear fenders. F-1 rear fenders are wider, from box to outside and the wheel openings, like the front, are smaller. The F-2 and F-3 have the 8 foot Express box which is longer and wider, that is why their fenders are narrower. Ford changed box design in mid '50 and went to a flat sided box, up until that point F-1 box fenders had a corresponding notch to follow the raised panel side of the box. The 8 foot express box kept the raised panel through out the five years of the Bonus Built styling.

Now that's a lot of information you didn't ask for.

I dont know about the OP but that information helped me a lot. I am mixing and matching fenders on our 1949 F1. That post confirmed what I had been thinking.

also early 50 models had a step on the rear fender where it bolted to the raised panel on bed, late 50 models had a straight bolt flange. bed side were flat /smooth. I think I remember that right, lol

'48, and before, F-1s had the same box with the raised panel which required the step, or notch, in the rear fenders to correspond to fit the raised area.
