Is it normal for the top of the wood header to be above the top of the header panel?

Yesterday was the first real drive around the block. She ran great and needs a few things, but it is officially a running and driving car. Super stoked!!!

I just came across your thread and read it through. LOVE IT! I'm a ****er for Tudors and plan on doing one next as my kids are getting bigger and the roadster is getting smaller! Great job, Man and just in time for the driving season! Have fun!!

Also, great questions....I learned a lot by reading through this too.

    Here is some video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ex3JYRdqt3c

So no one gets offended, the "girls" we were yelling at at the end of the video are our wives. My voice isn't usually that high, I was just very happy. My wife said she didn't even hear us yell at them since the car was too loud. So I was yelling at a pregnant married girl in the first ride in my hot rod as my wife is due in September. Boy number 3. Life is good.

No need to explain the high pitch in your voice!! Anyone who's driven down the block for the first time in a rod that they've built will totally understand!! CONGRATS on getting it going and on the new baby!! Life is good for you now! Enjoy!!!!!

Putting some miles on my car and it is running pretty good. Have a few things to finish up and hope to bring it out to the Jalopy Showdown on Saturday.

Ran new plug wires and turns out in the original test drive I had wires 7 and 8 switched. Ran well for only having 6 cylinders firing. Fixed that and it runs a lot smoother now. Even installed a Bubba distributor. Also adjusted the steering box and it tracks a lot better.

Any old timey hot rodders in the area want to help me out with a few things with my flathead? Just need help setting the timing and adjusting the carbs. Have some type of vibration in the trans at certain speeds that I can't quite figure out. Might even through on a set of aluminum heads if I have the time. Willing to pay in spare parts, beer, pizza or cash for your time. I only have nights open this week. Let me know if anyone can help out. I am in Wall, NJ right near Belmar.

So I have over 200 miles on the car and so far....so good. Adjusted the toe and it took the vibration out of the front end. Tinkering with a bunch of other little things and having a blast with the car.

    Banjo rear question:
How do I figure out the rear end ratio while it is in the car? It seems to be geared real low. Torque tube, 3 speed trans (I think mid 30's). I plan to wire up a tach this weekend, so I will eventually have that if it might help to figure things out.

Put on aluminum heads over the weekend. Turns out the engine was a recent rebuild and bored 0.060 over. Sometimes when you buy someone else's project and are told the engine was just rebuilt, the seller is telling the truth. Real happy with it.

Love the car bud. We are neighbors and I am in the early stages of a nearly identical build. 29 tudor 4" chop and channel, flathead power, Trans and rear to be decided but will be traditional. Car is awesome hope to see it around

scott76 - If we are neighbors, stop on by. I'm learning as I go with these things, but might be able to help you out with something I did (or mistake I learned from)

I guess it is time to post a quick update. I hope to post a build thread in the future. I drove the sedan all last summer and had a blast. Even got some runs in on the sand at the Race of Gentlemen. What a great weekend.

The rear end is a 4:11 ratio and it is too low for me. I found a quickchange center section and on the fence of installing the quickchange or just regear the banjo to a 3:54. The quickchange should be here soon, so that will force me to make a decision.

I had Mel chop the top less than 4". We still need to finish up the body work, but it has just been too cold to work on it. I think the subtle chop works for the car. I dig it. Once the weather warms up a bit, we will finish it off.

While looking for parts for my car and trying to convince a buddy to get a roadster pickup, I found a 27 RPU I couldn't p*** up. Now the garage is full and I will have to split my time between the 2 cars. Once I finish the winter projects on the sedan, I will jump on the RPU.

This is where I am now. Chopped it 4" and May channel the body 4" over the frame next. Although I may decide to box the frame and make it a roller before I do the channel. I am also going to try to fire the flathead soon.
