Ok folks,I'm going to make an effort to do a build thread here, my computer skills are marginal so bear with me. The car belongs to a long time friend of mine, he always wanted a custom mercury, so we're gonna build one. I'm really excited about this car, it should be a good time. Some of the body mods, like headlight/taillight treatment are still up for debate. So for now a 4 inch chop and a 2 inch section are in order. Right now I'm in the process of rust repair on the inner rocker/subrail and floor, then get back it on the frame. Here's what I got so far.
Yes Sir, You have a rather large project on your hands. I'm going to guess it's not your first time at bat. Doing a section job on a Merc is no easy deal to make look good. I'm going to enjoy seeing a well done end result. Best of luck to ya. The Wizzard
Looking forward to following the build. Got a 51 that will need floors and rockers when I get to the point of starting on it.
awesome, I hope to be doing similar rust repair to my 50. keep those pics coming especially on the fabed parts If buying parts, whose are you using and how do they fit? good luck ,will be following
4 inch is sort of a loose term, that would be out of the windshield post, from there it will be whatever has nice flow.
That car belongs to another friend of mine, I'll try and throw a pic up for ya. I wish either one of these were mine, lol. I don't even have a running hamb friendly car right now.
You guys are right, this thing is like climbing mt. everest, but I think it's gonna be worth it. I'm not working on it next weekend, going to the swap meet in decatur instead. Looking for a desoto grill, maybe an interesting dash, if anybody has one they want to part with pm me,thanks. More pics coming up after next weekend.
It's been a little while since I've got a chance to do anything on the merc, life gets in the way sometimes. So here's the rest of the rust repair. The floor goes back in it next week. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Got the floor back in it,we'll the front half. The new body mounts should be in next week, so we can put the body back on the frame. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
This is the a-pillar tacked. The other pics are the b-pillars one is just tacked the other has the inner structure installed and cap welded in and finished sanded
