Hopefully this thread will survive...it is about Larry Watson, Los Angeles custom car shows..and the old hot rod used car lot "Drag City"... Hi all...I just bought an old custom (69) Corvette...just a couple of years off topic...I was told that it was customized and painted fuschia/purple with blue pearl by Larry Watson's shop around 1970-71. The guy that I bought it from (Mike), bought the car at Drag City and was told it was built and painted by Larry Watsons shop. Mike went to Larrys shop around 1972-73 and showed him the car and Larry confirmed that it was built there. Mike said that Larry had pictures of this Corvette in his office. It has a mako shark rearend setup..huge aluminum slot mags, one piece rear bumper and was fuschia/purple. The guy mentioned that one of the pics he saw in Larrys office was a picture of the car on a turntable with that old cotton stuff guys used to use to make the car looks like it was floating on a cloud or burning out or something...if any of this strikes a chord with any of you....can you chime in? What custom/hot rod car shows would have operated in 1970-71 in the Los Angeles area? I was told that it was a National Championship show or something like that...
I think the Tridents were still having their show at that time. Try contacting R.G. Canning, he runs the Rose Bowl swap meet and was heavily involved with the Tridents. http://www.rgcshows.com/
