I have a 37 Chevy Business Coup and I'm trying to get some recommended frontend setups for the weight of a 392 Hemi... I had been looking at the speedway.com and Superbells setups and there is a huge difference in cost between the two... Does anyone have experience with these or others I should be aware of?!?! Lot of info on www.droppedaxles.com If your Chevy had the original beam axle, a 54-55 1st Series Chevy or GMC 1/2 ton is a good replacement. Sid D****r is a H.A.M.B. member if you have questions... Jeff
...used the orig. axle in my 37, stock springs, blocks, 51 car brakes, Speedway cross-steer parts, Saginaw 525 steer. box with homemade frame mount, works really well...I actually cut the blocks down by a 1/3 in the final set-up.
If your afraid of the blocks slipping out, you can do what I did on my old Chevy, and run the u-bolts through the blocks. Meltdown Drags vintage drag meet. July 18,19,20 2014
my buddy used the speedway stuff under a 49 ford tudor.....I told him he was nuts.....I was wrong. ........It drove awesome, never would have believed it. he used the whole setup,..... axle, springs, spindles ,brakes and a GM box.
I know thee guys using the speedway setups and they all love them. Even at speeds well over 120mph on the drag strip!!!
That looks like a support bar next to the u bolt pad . Its a great idea IMO and much needed with blocks that tall....JMO
I bet you find more vintage pictures of factory dropped axle cars with blocks than without. Meltdown Drags vintage drag meet. July 18,19,20 2014
Heres a few non-traditional g***ers with lift blocks Meltdown Drags vintage drag meet. July 18,19,20 2014
my henry j has a speedway kit drives great, and i love it. but i do like the looks of a factory beam axle
I'd rather not use blocks, and go with more spring arc. But blocks sure are traditional, and were used on many g***ers!
Thanks everyone for the input!!! Here's my progress on the build! Hopefully this 4in setback will make more then enough room for the big Hemi!!! I need to make my mind up on the frontend... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
