Anybody catch that over on the unmentionable site? Ugly face, but the rest of it seems kind of cool. Wish I had the time, space and dough to play with it. Dig the Olds. rocket motor too. A bit more old school cool than the official version.

Thanks for the good words and if anyone wants to swing by here in Sacramento come on by.
I have a body shop here in Sacramento Ca, Borbon Fabrications. I sent the link to a very good friend of mine at Toy Car Exchange since it was such an interesting car. A few days later we ended up getting the car and both of us will restore this long lost piece of American history.

The car arrived here about 3 weeks ago and I have taken the body off the frame and have started a full restoration.

This is very exciting for both of us.
Thanks again and keep on motoring.

How about putting up some pictures of it? Not everyone plays Facebook, and you can't watch that video on a mobile device.

I don't even know what it has to do with bat mobile history because It's not explained in the thread.

Here are a few pictures of the car. My wife bought the car a year ago on behalf of the Toy Car Exchange and our good friend Mario Borbon did an incredible job of restoring it over the last year.
The car won first prize in the hand built Sports Car Cl*** at the Sacramento AutoRama ahead of such famous handbuilt Sports car like the Shelby Cobra.
The car is on the restored 1956 Oldsmobile 88 Ch***is powered by the original rebuilt Oldsmobile V8 Rocket Motor (one of my favorite vintage motors)
This is the first custom car ever built (between 1961-finished 1963) that was used by a DC Comic Licensee as a Batmobile. It is the only known Batmobile built before 1965 that is authentic.

Wow, that's pretty cool. Thanks for putting up the pictures. Can you elaborate a little bit on what it was used for? Used by a DC Comic licensee for what exactly? The earliest knowledge I have of any bat mobile is the tv show using the Barris version. I like this car much better.

The car was used by All Star Dairies to promote their Batman icecream and other refreshements. All Star Dairies was a licensee of National Periodic Publications that owned DC Comics at that time.
They paid over $3,000,000.00 in 1966 alone for the right to sell Batman Icecream, Lemonade etc.
Here is a good article in Wikipedia about the car with pics and newspaper clippings of it when it toured in some of States as "Batman's Batmobile" promoting Batman icecream.

Beautiful restoration job...it actually has an early DC comics "ungainly"vibe to it.

Was it ever red and black before, or is that a new change? Are the seats original? Neat car with some neat history, but it does look like a lot of stuff was changed during the "restoration".

  14. Wasn't this a light purple (lavender) originally? It never was used in a TV show, just for promotion for the dairy company as far as I have found.

The car was originally Silver, then when it was used by the Dairy Company as a batmobile it was purple. When we restored the car we decided on Black and Red simply because it looked killer.
The car was in such bad shape when we got it that no cab, no seats, or anything else. So the seats are not original.
