Gracie- I can kinda see where Fidge comes from. It does seem like everytime a girl posts, you have something negative to say if she posts a pic of herself. The term 'If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it' comes to mind.
Fidge- Gracie has a point as well. Most guys on here don't post pix of themselves when they join and if they did, in the equivalent manner most girls that post pix of themselves do (I don't know what that'd look like: shirtless and flexing his beer belly?), they would get clowned.

Finally, to you newbie, prove yourself as something other than an attention seeker and post relevant info, etc. The best way to shut 'em up is to put up!

 

#1... the reason that picture is so funny to me and my friends is because i really was workin' on my car. My starter solinoid went out, and I had to quick fix, because I needed to go to work. I don't ussually work in heels, but my friends were all laughin' because i was in heels and using a skateboard for the extra height!

#2... the reason I did that is because I like people to tell me I'm pretty...end of story...

What ever happened to the kinder gentler HAMB? Well that will never happen. I remember people saying you will need a think skin to run with this crowd. Personal attacks are never good. I do think Gracie was a little harsh, but how many times will this same issue come up? It is a endless viscous cycle, Fidge saying STFU to anyone will always resort in a negative come back. Have you ever said Shut the Fuck up to some one, and they responded with well thank you and you have a great day? Jeepers nail the answer to these issues when women post. Everyone has to prove their weight in salt before there are truley accepted. I think that Gracie and Brandy are both doing exactly what most of the other HAMBers would have doen if the tables were turned. Just my .02. Welcome to the HAMB Allison.

From one newbie to another, welcome!

In the midst to the smoke and ashes, I'm not sure if anyone addressed your request for information about viable engine options for your 54 Chevy.

Is your 235 already broke, or are you just looking for more go-power?

If you need to replace your motor, you are very limited with what you can do without replacing your entire driveline. Your car is equipped with a smallish driveshaft that is enlcosed in a torque-tube, mated to your rear end. If you want to say, drop in a small block chevy, everything has to go, from your radiator, tranny to rear end. Quite a bit of time and $$.

If your 235 just needs some more power and longer legs, try this: Get some tall 15 inch tires on the rear, preferably about 2 inches taller to offset your low rear gear ratio. Go to langdon's stovebolt six (do a google search on that) and buy his holley weber progressive 2 barrel carb and linkage kit and a manifold adapter. Will run you about $150 after shipping, best money you ever spend on a six banger. Last, get yourself some fenton headers or tubular headers and run straight pipe and duals.

Trust me, I have a 54 210 2 door sedan with 97XXX on the odometer and did all that stuff this Spring. She runs great, goes like hell, will run 70 on the highway without getting hurt AND gets 20 MPG on the road. I took it out and tried to blow it by winding it out (got a fresh 327 and 4spd looking for a home) but no dice. That ole girl is a runner.
