Banger Manifold Studs

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Cheneyboro Kid, Feb 20, 2014.

  1. Anyone know if someone out there makes longer manifold studs for a banger? or tips of what might work. I have the 4 to 1 header and down draft manifold. Thanks!

When I wanted manifold studs for my Dodge Bros. banger' I looked online for Studes. Found a company with all kinds of studs who would sell a few for a reasonable price. Don't remember the name, but they are out there.

  3. Good to know!

Rich... have you noticed the thread size/count on those early Chevrolet 4 head bolts :D?

  4. I actually found that O'Reilly's Auto Parts can get them. I found them on their web site.

Yes. I bought new 1/2-12 bolts from an online early Chevy parts dealer. Along with the gasket set. Now I get regular emails from them, but I can't think of the name. Old I guess.

The Good Book says the stockers are: 7/16-20 by 7/16-14, 2 3/16 long. It's a standard hardware item, not a special part. Decide how long you need and check out a decent hardware store, if any have survived in your area, or the Dorman catalog at a car parts place first. If no luck try someplace like MSC Industrial supply and just order some. In choosing from standard stuff you can go a little long if needed, adding washers above the clamping washers, or just running a die to lengthen the fine threads since these are not highly stressed parts.

Roy Nacewicz is the guy to go to for old ford fasteners of all sorts/sizes.
But, as you are not into stock size, like was said....any auto parts/hardware store may have. I've found that stores that supply race car supplies have all the sizes you could want...and including up thru grade 8.

I'm pretty sure that the 7/16 fine/co**** layout matches FH V8 head studs, A-b head studs, aftermarket SBC studs, and numerous rocker arm aftermarket bits. That gives you numerous off-t******lf lengths from Nacewicz and speed shops to suplement standard Dorman and fastener supply sources.

  11. I'd love to find 1/2-12 studs to use instead of bolts :)

  12. Thanks for all the help! Found some!
