First found the H.A.M.B. with the open wheel modifieds stock car thread that got moved to DOGFIGHT(where it belongs), but that got me looking around. I spent a lot of days reading through the home made tools thread as well. I've been lurking around and am just so amazed at the builds; posted a few comments here and there on CorvetteSander's COE build, Cody's 59 wagon build and a couple others. Figured it was time to introduce myself.

I've been racing (circle tracks) since 1984 on dirt and pavement; everything from street stocks, modifieds, and late models to a figure 8 car (once) and even tried a sprint car too. My taste in street cars is pretty varied; I love a chopped and channeled coupe, dropped Merc, restored muscle, modded muscle, late model street machine... I guess my only limiting parameter is the quality of the work. In the garage now are: 2008 GMC 2500HD D-max, 2002 Ford conversion van, 67 Mustang FB, Lefthander straight rail late model and my son's quarter midgets.

I'm so busy with my kids’ activities that I'm probably going to hang up my helmet this year and start building cars instead of going in circles. Projects to get started on: Cavalier CS-96 Coke machine restoration (in process now), then probably a 61-63 ford unibody truck. My daughter starts driving this summer and wants her first car to be a 72-73 Torino (we'll see) she likes a 59-60 Impala as well. What she gets will depend on $$$ and how much she's going to help me :)

I spent 12 yrs working in a sign shop doing design, wood and metal fabrication, painting etc... and I've been racing and building racecars since 1983. I also did some custom paint on a few bikes, trucks and such in the early 90’s but could never get enough business to quit the bill-paying job. I'm certainly not afraid to cut something up to make something better (racing taught me that). I have a reasonably well equipped shop and I build my own motors, ******s, rears, ch***is etc...

So, that's me in a nutshell. Looking forward to getting a project in the shop to play with, first one will be fairly basic, like I said maybe an early 60's or 50's pickup, and we'll go from there. Or maybe I'll jump in with both feet. There's a guy in town with a 38? Chevy 2dr humpback that I'd love to get ahold of. It needs chopped, lowered, race-prepped straight 6... I'm a big fan of build threads, so when I get started, you'll see it here.

Welcome from Huntsville Alabama.. As you will find out the HAMB has a lot of circle track folks that call the HAMB home. Put your helmet on a short hanger because you will get the urge. Several her have hung up the helmet and got it back down more than one time... Welcome again.... Bobby..

-racer5c- no I don't know Joe. I moved to Edwardsburg in 2006 after spending a year building the house. So I know a lot of the current people there, but don't know much about its history. Might have to look into that.

-k9racer- I'm so torn about hanging up my helmet. I love racing but I don't like not running well and I don't have the time/help I need to run up front with the latemodels. I've thought about building a street stock as it will take less time than the latemodel does. We can run cl***ic sheetmetal on a more modern ch***is. Maybe I do a 64 chevelle on a 75 monte carlo frame? 71-73 mustang fastback on a shortened crown vic ch***is, or 66 fairlane on a crown vic ch***is...

Welcome! from northern Wi. Did the racing deal for 20+ years,( Loved It) The Koolest thing about Hot Rods, Street Hobby Cars, They are very reasonable $$$ to play with. The $$$ invested for your "FUN" factor is very easy to control and IMO, most of it can be recouped on your "Hobby" cars. Hopefully the car Hobby will satisfy your "Car Addiction" A LOT of great people in the "HOBBY" John

This is correct I have been involved in circle track racing for over 50 years. Still drive. last 10 races I have 3 wins 3 seconds 4 thirds. I now race a Camero street stock. As King Ford said this Hot Rod is fun and you still have a life, Welcome again... Bobby..
