I just saw an auction on ebay for a Buick manual transmission in Jamestown, Ohio. These things are made of unobtainium, and nobody has bid on it yet. The auction end tomorrow night. Seller says he needs payment in three days, and pick-up in a week. I can't get to Dayton until around Christmas at the earliest. There's only a day left on the auction, so I don't think I can contact him and get the Okee-Dokee to leave it his place until then (his wording in the listing didn't seem overly friendly). Is there a Dayton HAMBer who could stash this thing in their back yard for me for a couple months? I'd be surprised if it weighs more than 60 pounds--they're not really heavy. Can anyone help?! Man, this thing even has the rare Ansen floor shifter on it...The manual trans in a Special had 5 bolts on the cover, and gears made of glass. The bigger trans has 6 bolts, and much stronger gears. Ansen is the only company that made a shifter for them, as the shift levers are kind of funky--one push/pull, the other is an lever on a pivot (like most normal transmissions). I've got a Special, with a broken manual 5-bolt trans. Thanks, -Brad
Find out how far off I-75 he is. Roadstar and I are heading south to Earl Schieb's in Hartland, TN for Thanksgiving and depending on what vehicle we take, we might be able to pick it up on the day before Thanksgiving (Wednesday) around dinnertime and either leave it at Mike's for you or at one of the other Poor Boys in Nashville.
Dude i can pick it up and leave it at work totally safe 24 7 security you can pickit up whenyou want as long as you bring lunch
I live just north of Dayton, I can pick it up for you and store it no problem...Let me know if you haven't got it setup yet, Phil
I am in Dayton, and I even know where Jamestown is... I can spare a little room in the garage for storage. If I can help, let me know.... Andy
Thanks VERY much everybody! I sent the guy an email to arraing things before I bid on it, but he never responded. The auction ended, with no bids--I'm going to follow up with him, and if he's willing to sell it (I dealt with this joker once before, so I'm not holding my breath), I'll take one of you guys up on the offer. Damn the HAMB kicks ass! -Brad
I was going to offer assistance, but then I saw you were covered multiple times over. Once again, the HAMB does -- in fact -- kick ass.
