Out searching for Hudsons and while buying a 47 Hudson pickup came across a complete 47 pont. convert. Does any one know approx. how many where made or any other info about them. The guy wanted $1000.00 for it . It has been outside yet covered for many years and appeared totally complete with the usual floor rot. Am considering picking it up to get roadworthy and resell, and am curious if you pontiac guys think it would be worth my while. I did'nt have the camera with me so no pics as of yet. Thanks, Bob

I have a Consumer Guide pub. book that claims 10,020 Pontiac converts were made the 1947 calender year and 15,937 in 1948.
So it's no more rare than a '59-'60 El Camino, just older...

Thanks for the replys. If anyone has any pics of one please post. I've been trying to visualize what one would look like with the A pillars cut down and a dropped rag top on it. Later, Bob

heres a coupe that I kinda like.. (although i'd like it more with a chrome grile)

I have prohably seen 3 pontiac convertables.. ever..

they are a pretty big car and are even longer than my olds wagon.. I think (although I am not certain) that pontiac (like olds) made two series of cars..each with its own wheelbase.. (that may make finding parts challanging esp if your just looking to fix and flip..

I am 99% certain that NO patch panels (or replacement panels) are made for that floor.. its most likely a pontiac only thing\

this is TO me.. almost the most perfect car..

1947 olds grille in a 47 or 48 pontiac convertable..

  10. I'm posting a few pontiac photos I took at the '87 Streetrod nats in Columbus, Ohio. I drove my 48 torpedo out there from Omaha and thought I'd shoot a few photos for ideas for my own car..
Here's a 48 ragtop and a 47 coupe to get an idea of the differences in grilles and fender trim...............the photo of my brother eating a samich on the bumper of my 48 is just for kicks...and to show you how much better 48 tailights look in 41-47 ponchos...and to see what "Janglehead" looked like in the 80's. My pontiac was so clean you could eat off it! Bahahahaha
